Caribbean Kiteboarding

So Im off to the Virgin Islands! I will be calling Saint Thomas home for the next couple of months. I've been checking the weather and it looks like its usually around 85 degrees and blowing 15 to 20 mph. Sounds like my kind of place.

I will be teaching lessons, and riding as much as possible. Can't wait to explore all over the Carribean. December through March is the windy season for the Virgin Islands so I'll be hitting this perfect. Good times, great stories, and plenty of pictures to come... Stay tuned!

Biggest Waves in 10 years!

the Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau is on for the first time since 2004. Waiamea Bay is rocking and all the best surfers in the world are out!

Definitly no shortage of brave souls staring these massive sets right between the eyes.

Anyone else wishing we could see some kiters out there skying off these 5 story monsters?! I know I do.

I'm pretty sure a kiter wouldnt make it 10 ft on the beach right now. Either way, it's awesome to these waves happening right now and I cant wait to see all the footage from the Eddie!

Rob Douglas Breaks World Record!

So I've caught an edge wakeboarding going about 30 mph, but I cant imagine what it would be like going over 50 kts! That's what Rob Douglas was doing with kite in Lüderitz, Harbor Town, Africa yesterday.

He set the US record for speed at 50.95 kts! that's insane. What happens if you fall? limbs start flying off? All I know is water starts to feel like cement around 20 kts...

So the overall winner of the day was frenchman Alex Caizergues posting a speed of 50.98 kts. Both riders fell just shor of the overall wind sailing record of 51.36 kts fet by a french sailboat. Give these guys just a puff more wind and that record is history, only a matter of time

There hasn't been much to be said about Central Florida kiteboarding (not counting the guy getting hammered into the wall a while back), but Cocoa Beach truly has a hidden little gem of a kiteboarding spot.
